FCE Pointers: Biosecurity

Strict biosecurity minimises the risk and spread of disease, maximising flock health and performance.
Location: Farms should be situated at least 3km from other livestock facilities.
Showering on and off: Anyone entering the farm should shower on and off and have a complete change of clothing before entering the farm.
Pest control: Have pest control measures in place (rodent, insects, wild birds).
Cleaning & disinfection: No house/farm can be bio-secure if cleaning & disinfection is not completed to a high standard. Swabs should be taken to confirm cleaning & disinfection has been effective and that salmonella levels are zero.
Hand/boot sanitation: Before entering a house sanitise hands and change footwear.
