Michael has been speaking to the Poultry Site again.  This time about how remote sensing has prepared the poultry industry for the difficulties created by the current Covid-19 pandemic.

In the article, published on the 21st August, Michael discussed how remote sensing has aided the poultry industry during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

One challenge of the COVID-19 lockdown has been the restrictions on movements of people. Companies operating multiple farms have had to reduce the movements of certain staff between farms. Remote sensing allows visibility in real-time of a number of factors that can affect bird performance, health and welfare.  With remote sensing in place, contact with farms and technical support can be maintained.

Remote sensing systems can help develop more proactive management as well as an understanding of the conditions required for repeat success, even if movement between and access to farms is restricted.
